Communication, Language and Literacy

We've had a busy week in Reception. As part of our topic this half term, Traditional Tales, we have looked at the story of Little Red Riding Hood. In class we have completed activities which include making biscuits to take to Grandma's house, writing the sentence what big ______ you have, designing and making a plane for the big bad wolf and drawing the flowers and insect we would see on our journey to Grandma's house.

As part of our work literacy work on The Rainbow Fish, the children in Reception participated in an experience day where they explored a bottom of the sea sensory tray, they observed the behaviour of 2 of our school fish, they decorated fish with sequins and acted out the story of The Rainbow Fish.

Reception enjoyed a walk to the post office yesterday as we had some very special letters that needed posting. On our way to the post office we explored our local area and discussed what we could see.

After reading the story of The Little Red Hen , Reception decided they would bake some bread to share with their prayer partners this afternoon.
